Family Name Nicoloff Surname : Gwendaël

Born : 23/02/1971 in Paris, France Dj Name : GWENDAëL or sometimes Funked Up Kid (I used this, few years back when I was doing mixes for Cyberfactory, in belgium - www.cyberfactory.be - and for www.trax-up.com who played my mixes after cyberfactory ; and I like that GWENDAëL written in capital but with a small ë. So maybe one day I'll only use the ë. Experiences : lots of parties in the south of France with my friend Toots as dj's, organization, promotion, etc... The best of those parties was in 1998 in Les Adrets that some remembers as one of south of France best party ever, What'up bar (now called Wax bar), La locomotive, Mixer bar, Glaz'art, Kimix, Metallomix, Lugano, Switzerland (December 31st, 2002) where I played for 25 000 people! I was born in 1971, my mother's from UK and my dad's from France and Switzerland. My Dad's a musician since he was 18. he played with different people suh as Gong, french singer Jacques Higelin, Franck Zappa once, Horde Catalytique etc... I grew up in the south of France and arrived in Paris in 1989, studying graphics in some art school. I started buying records very early and got involved in electronic music at the end of the eighties. Then back in 93, i felt it was time to start djaying if i wanted to find a job in a record company. But I did'nt. My influences are so large, (they come from funk, jazz, electronic, pop music, reggae, etc.) that I can't say I like one thing much than another, the style isn't that important! I just like to play techno and breaks for what it is : good dance music (just like disco was).
